There is a wide range of oils available for natural skincare – pick one that suits your personal needs.
1. Argan oil
Extracted from the nuts of the Argan tree, which grows only in Morocco, this oil is the darling of the beauty industry. Loaded with high levels of vitamin E, it’s known for its anti-ageing properties, offering protection for the skin and hair from sun damage. Many beauty products list this as one of their main ingredients, especially hair products such as shampoos and conditioners. Applying a few drops of pure Argan oil will help make your hair smooth and silky.
2. Rosehip oil
The popularity of rosehip oil boomed after celebrities such as Miranda Kerr considered this oil her holy grail. Extracted from rosehip seeds, this oil is high in fatty acids, essential for regenerating skin cells and making it effective in treating scars and fighting wrinkles. Apply a thin layer of rosehip oil on your face before going to sleep and wake up with glowing skin.
3. Coconut oil
Despite being a kitchen staple, coconut oil is a great moisturiser as it is light and easily absorbed by the skin. It can also replace chemical facial cleansers – use oil cleansing method instead. Be sure to use only high quality, organic and unrefined coconut oils for your face – not the ones for frying eggs!
4. Tea tree oil
Having problems with acne? The anti-bacterial properties of tea tree oil can kill bacteria and speed up the drying of acne. Being antiseptic and antifungal, it can also help fight yeast infections through regular application. But be careful not to swallow tea tree oil as it can be poisonous.
